Acheta domesticus

Behaviour:

Males sing most actively in teh evening and night. The very loud song consists of a series of melidious 'kre'-sounds (echemes), repeated more or less reguarly at a rate of about 1-3/s. In the vicinity of females, males produce a courtship song. It consists of a continuous rustling, mixed with loud, high-pitched ticks.

Acheta domesticus

Behaviour:

Acheta domestica (Linné, 1758) (Figs. 2; 9; 16) - the calling song is composed from echemes of 2-3 hemisyllables, each echeme having 0.2 seconds. Gaps between echemes are variable between 0.8 and 1 second at 27oC. The species stridulates especially in the summer, though adults can be found all year long. It stridulates at night and the stridulation can be heared from over 10-15 meters. The pars stridens has approximately 3.1 mm (area with stridulatory pegs) and 171 pegs. [1]

Behaviour:

The very loud and musical song is almost always producred in the evening or at night. It is reminiscent of the Field-cricket, but softer and less regular in the duration of the chirps and the intervals between them. [1]
