Platycleis nigrosignata

The calling song is very similar to those of P. tessellata and P. veyseli, consisting of a series of quiet diplosyllables, often grouped into loose echemes  of about 2-8 syllables, but sometimes repeated more regularly for long periods. Within a loose echeme the syllables are repeated at the rate of about 2-4/s and are separated by intervals of about 0.1-0.5 s. Oscillographic analysis of th eosng of the single male studied (in darkness at an air temperature of 22°C) showed that the opening hemisyllables lasted about 30 ms and the closing hemisyllables about 60 ms. There are no microsyllables. [1]
