Aerotegmina
The genus is characterized by highly modified wings and the shape of the pronotum. The teg- mina are strongly inflated to form an acoustical chamber, closed by the alae completing the chamber ventrally. Species of northern Tanzania and Kenya are smaller in body size with an acoustical chamber not larger than 1.5 cm while A. megaloptera Hemp, 2013, described from coastal forest near Dar es Salaam, has an acoustical chamber of about 2.5 cm in length. The latter species was described on a discoloured male specimen found in the spirit collection of the Natural History Museum Copenhagen, Denmark. Later, when further specimens of A. megaloptera were collected more information, also on the female, became available and was published in Hemp (2017). [1]
