Platycleis veyseli
Behaviour:
The calling song consists of a series of quiet diplosyllables, each lasting about 60-80 ms and composed of an opening hemisyllable lasting about 20-25 ms and a closing hemisyllable lasting about 25-25 ms. In the song of the single male studied (in dim light at an air temperature of 26°C) the syllables were grouped into loose echemes of 7-16 syllables, during which the syllable repetetion rate avaeraged about 1/s and the syllables were separated by interavls of about 0.4-1.6 s. It is likely that the study of further males under varying conditions would show that the osng varies in the same way as that of P. tessellata (p. 180). There are no microsyllables. [1]
