Diagnostic description:
Only three species of Bobilla are known from Tasmania, and only adult males can be used to separate them (Otte & Alexander 1983). A compound microscope was used to perform stridulatory file counts on the forewings of 30 adult males at each site (total = 240) to confirm the identity of B. poene. [1]
