Caledopsalta johanae
Seven different records where analysed to described the male calling of Caledopsalta johanae comb. nov. The male calling song (Fig. 25) is composed of a succession of long sequences, spanning approximately 9 to 10 s in duration and each separated by silence of 10 to 17 s. A sequence is formed by four phrases: the duration of the fi rst phrase varies from 1.5 to 1.9 s and is com- posed of short echemes lasting 0.02 s, each formed by two groups of pulses; the duration of the second phrase is shorter (0.6 s) and is formed by two types of echeme (one short, com- prising four groups of pulses, and one long, spanning 12 groups of pulses); the duration of the third phrase varies between 3 and 3.8 s and is composed of long echemes lasting 0.24 to 0.26 s and formed by 19 to 21 groups of pulses; the duration of the fourth phrase has the same basic structure as the second phrase but dif- fers in duration (from 3.0 to 3.7 s). The frequency ranges from 8000 to > 22 000 Hz. The main power is located between 13 000 and 15 500 Hz, and the maximum power is located around 14 500 Hz [1].
