Acorypha pallidicornis
Behaviour:
Stridulation is thought to be vel]' rare in the CalIiptaminae and yet this was observed on several occasions by males and once in a subdued form by a female. The stridulatol]' pattern consisted of three to seven bursts of sound at a rate of about Ii per second. Each burst started abruptly but was vel]' quiet and could not be heard at more than two feet. The action creating this sound consisted of one or both rear femurs being rapidly lifted with the tibia tucked below the femur. [1]
